Aston Martin Valour review

Buying

What should I be paying?

Well, you’ll need deep pockets. Prices started at a million quid, and most Valours are likely to have options on top. Limited editions shouldn’t depreciate… but will the Valour’s value hold firm now there’s the £2m Valiant above it in the range, basking in the reflected afterglow of Alonso’s apparent approval?

It’ll rarely return more than 20 miles per gallon, and bear in mind you’ll probably have to park it yourself as most valet staff will be used to paddleshifters these days.

But this is all arbitrary. Aston says all 110 are sold, as are the 38 follow-up Valiants which are lighter still and aimed for superior on-track performance. So our solemn advice is to have one of each. And a One-77 because it makes a better noise. And a Victor. Send all your money to Belgium.

Sound a bit pricey? Well, if you can get hold of one of the 333 V12 Vantages, you’re buying the same pace, noise and looks at a quarter of the price. So the question is, how much do you want something that looks like a Victor, and how much do you want to change gear yourself?
