Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices begin at just over £20k – Active trim is the entry level, (£200 a month) including Peugeot’s own special brand of endlessly disobedient automatic wipers, rear parking sensors, the 10in touchscreen and automatic climate control. Another £2,500 moves up to Allure (£235 a month), adding the body-coloured front grille, front parking sensors and electric folding door mirrors.
GT trim starts at £25,360 (£263 a month) and adds a black roof, 17in rims (handsome, but watch out for the ride) full LED headlights, a reversing camera and ambient lighting. It also includes a ‘3D effect’ instrument display which some testers have found tricky to focus on – another reason it’s crucial to test drive a 208 before signing.
We found the 208 hybrid in 99bhp guise averaged 47-55mpg, improving usefully when limited to bumbling about town. The trip computer wildly speculated it would reach over 500 miles on a tank, but 350-380 is more usual.
