Is this Mercedes-AMG DTM racer the coolest wedding car ever?

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something with 460bhp. Ah, that well-known saying. Enough of centrepieces and table plans. Bridal transport is the name of this game. 

So imagine the excitement for AMG racer Maro Engel (and his beautiful wife Steffi, of course) when being presented with a Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM for their wedding day chauffeur. It was even finished with ‘just married’ graphics, to add that extra classy touch. 

“It was an absolutely amazing, incredible experience. When the team offered it to us, we were blown away and thought about how best to manage the half-hour drive,” said Maro about the car. 

“It was a crazy feeling, driving off from the church in the C63 DTM together with my wife. We each had a big wide grin on our face.”

But what about the blushing bride? Was she as keen to say I Do to a spin in the DTM racer? 

“When the offer was first made by the team, I had to discuss it with Steffi. I knew, of course, that this is not necessarily the air-conditioned luxury vehicle that you would have on the way back to your hotel. But Steffi said right away that we should jump at the chance. She thought the idea was tremendous.”

You’re not wrong, Maro. The pictures make for great keepsakes, though, and what a better way to celebrate such a successful racing career.

“The DTM car brought us full circle, symbolically speaking, because we met through and at the DTM,” Maro gleamed. 

Seems honeymoons and horsepower are a match made in heaven, then.
