Obsessed with JDM cars? You’ll want this special edition Nismo watch
Nissan and Seiko have teamed up to remember the East African Safari Rally winning 240Z
Yesterday Nissan showed off the Safari Rally Z Tribute – a jacked-up, 400bhp+ version of the seventh-gen Z that was designed to pay homage to the 240Z that won the 1971 East African Safari Rally.
Unfortunately, it looks like that will just be a one-off for the SEMA show, but there is another tribute to the classic rally-spec Z that’s available for the general public to buy. Though it’s not actually a car.
You see, this is the Nismo Seiko Safari Z watch – a limited edition, $299 timepiece that apparently “takes inspiration from the rally in terms of its bold style and timeless design”.
Just 240 examples will be available (for obvious reasons) and each will come with a 40mm stainless steel case, a Caliber 6N52 quartz movement and plenty of Nissan Z, Safari and Nismo branding.
Seiko was one of the original sponsors of the successful 240Z, which was piloted to victory by Edgar Herrmann and navigator Hans Schüller. Nice.
