Geckota Chronotimer Chronograph
This UK brand launched its first watches a decade ago and has a growing following but is still firmly in ‘interesting discovery’ territory. The collection has a number of mechanical movements but this one with ‘reverse panda’ subdials has a quartz movement in a 42mm steel case.

French brand Yema has been around since the mid 20th century and has a strong motoring heritage, but flies well under the radar. This Seventies inspired watch was designed for the Alpine team to wear at Le Mans. With unidirectional timing bezel, 39mm steel case and automatic movement.

Brooklands Watch Company Triple-Four
Brooklands engaged Sir Terence Conran to design a watch that paid tribute to the Thirties Napier-Railton racer in the Brooklands museum. This limited edition is one of the late Sir Terence’s final creative endeavours. With a 43mm stainless steel case and Swiss automatic chronograph movement.

What do you mean unknown? This watch recently won Laurent Ferrier a prize at Switzerland’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie – the Oscars of watchmaking. So the brand is well known within the industry, but the tiny atelier outside Geneva produces just a handful of watches every year, so slim chance of bumping into someone else wearing one. Mr Ferrier founded the company 15 years ago after a successful career as both a watchmaker and a racing driver, winning his class at Le Mans in 1977.
The bill for this Oscar winner, which has a 44mm titanium case and a manual winding tourbillon movement, is very A-list.
