This is a Bugatti Tourbillon-inspired watch with a teeny V16 engine
Jacob & Co's latest Bugatti watch is inspired by the £3.2m hypercar and will likely cost a staggering amount of money
Bugatti and Jacob & Co have been working together on watches since 2019, and the partnership has now produced another limited edition product, this one designed to celebrate the V16-engined Tourbillon.
Apparently it took around 18 months to create and we're told that the watch draws on 10 different elements from the hypercar. Those elements include two radiator inlets either side of the 'front grille', two sapphire openings to mimic the side windows and sub-dials that take after the dashboard and rev counter.
But the most impressive part is the JCAM55 automaton, which is an identical replica of the Tourbillon's incredible, Cosworth-developed V16 engine - right down to the titanium pistons which are moved by a single-axis crankshaft.
The whole firing sequence lasts 20 seconds, while the flying tourbillon (because the car is named after an exposed watch mechanism, of course) can rotate for up to 30 seconds. See that blue hour hand? It’ll jump every 60 minutes to the next hour mark too.
There are two crowns, one for winding and one for time-setting, which look like the Tourbillon’s interior control knobs. Yeah, this is quite a way of commemorating your £3.2 million (plus tax) hypercar.
In total, there are 557 components, with a 48-hour power reserve and water resistance of up to 3 ATM.
Just 150 will be made for an as-yet undisclosed fee. Considering the Jacob & Co Chiron watch retailed at close to £225k, expect the Tourbillon’s price to be just as eye-watering.
