Volvo is doing free puncture and windscreen repairs!
And nope there’s no catch, the Swedish company will fix any Volvo in the UK for free
They say the best things in life are free, well now you can add puncture and windscreen repairs to sunsets and oxygen now that Volvo has committed to doing them without charge in the UK.
Yup you’ve read that right. In its latest effort to promote customer safety the manufacturer has announced that drivers can take their Volvos into any UK dealership to have a punctured tyre or chipped windscreen fixed on the spot.
Volvo reckons the scheme is an industry first (mobile windscreen repair has been a thing for yonks, to be fair) and it’s open to Volvos of any age.
“As well as reducing the nuisance factor of minor damage, this new service helps keep cars in safe condition and, in the case of windscreens, can prevent chips leading to cracks and more costly replacements,” said Kristian Elvefors, managing director of Volvo Car UK. “We value all Volvo drivers, no matter how old their car might be, and this new service is the perfect way to help them stay safe, secure and mobile.”
‘What’s the catch?’ we hear you ask. Seriously there’s no catch, so don’t expect to have to rent out the dealership’s waiting area or pay through the nose for watercooler access.
A qualified technician will assess the damage, and as long as your car meets the criteria then a fix will be carried out as soon as possible.
‘Ah, so what are the criteria?’ we hear you murmur. Well, your tyres will need at least 1.6mm of tread across the middle three-quarters, there can be no ‘secondary damage’, the rubber mustn’t be excessively aged and there can’t be evidence of faulty previous repairs.
Meanwhile the windscreen is divided up into zones (see the image above), which dictate how big a chip can be for a fix to be attempted. If Volvo can’t do the work, they’ll advise on a replacement.
And no, you can’t just stick Volvo badges on your non-Volvo car. They will notice.
