Volkswagen Polo GTi news - Polo GTi goes on sale - 2006

Published: 10 Feb 2006

Two new Volkswagen Polo models - and no prizes for guessing which one will be the more popular.

The Polo GTi takes its styling cues from bigger brother, the Golf GTi, including the honeycomb front grille, red-painted brake callipers and chromed exhaust pipes.

Powering the Polo GTi is 148bhp, 1.8-litre turbocharged engine, which sees off 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds.

At £14,785, the Polo GTi is pricey but tempting, which cannot be said of the £12,645 Polo Dune.

The Dune has dressed up as a 4x4, but its 1.4-litre petrol or diesel engines only drive the front wheels. The diesel costs £850 more than the petrol.
