Video: yep, that’s an Audi R8 drifting up a snowy mountain

Watch a driver make the most of the wintry conditions by sliding up an alpine pass

Published: 12 Jan 2016

If you live in the northern hemisphere, you might have noticed that we’re now in the clutches of winter.

Motoring during the winter months is an arduous process. Largely because your credit card gets a battering from scraping ice from your windscreen and you curse each morning for not speccing heated seats.

But there is one advantage to winter if you’re handy behind the wheel, have a previous generation Audi R8 V10 and a penchant for sideways: low grip conditions.

That’s exactly what the driver in the video above enjoys as he snakes the supercar up a snow-covered alpine pass with aplomb.

Being chased by a Lamborghini Huracan, the four-wheel drive Audi poetically pendulums up the closed road before ending with a perfect pirouette.

It’s a ballsy, yet satisfying run to witness and we’d hold a pretty strong scoring card if we were a judge at the top.

But, please, please, please don’t try this on slippery surfaces near you. It could end with you in a ditch cursing over more than those heated seats.
