Video: world’s biggest toy car collection

Published: 11 Feb 2014

It's difficult to imagine that Beirut's Civil War would inspire a record-breaking collection of toy cars, but it's precisely why Billy Karam decided to gather more than 30,000 models in his hometown of Lebanon.

Karam's house was raided as a child during the conflict and his possessions were stolen, which included a treasured collection of toy cars. As the country limped from its troubled past, he decided to rebuild it, throwing in displays of his favourite moments in motorsport in the process.

The collection's grown to become its own museum in Lebanon, incorporating more than 400 dioramas along with the scale models, and holds the Guinness world record as the largest collection of toy cars in the world. Watch the video, then have a closer look at Karam's collection on the museum's website here.
