Video: this scooter run is the stuff of nightmares
Watch a teenager try to recreate 'C'était un rendez-vous' on a Honda scooter
A young rider in Vietnam has recorded a clip of some mildly harrowing exploits astride a Honda scooter.
In a clip that’s eerily similar to the cross-Parisian blast that caused so much controversy in the 1970s, after the realease of C'était un rendez-vous, the rider takes on Vietnamese city traffic with what appears to be a complete disregard for his, or anyone else’s, safety.
We’re not sure if he’s ever seen Claude LeLouch’s infamous car film – possibly because he’s too busy playing Russian Roulette and taunting crocodiles – and we’re not sure of the point of the endeavour, either. Perhaps getting to work five minutes earlier than everyone else.
Our palms are sweaty just watching what’s basically a two-minute compendium of everything you shouldn’t do on a motorcycle. This falls squarely into the ‘stupid, not brave’ category, but it’s absurdly mesmerising to watch. And it’s worth a few re-watches – if just for the sheer disbelief at every manoeuvre.
It probably goes without saying, but under no circumstances should you ever try this, at home or anywhere else...
