Oh good, it’s another picture of a disguised Corvette prototype

But this one comes attached to positive news. Hurrah!

If you’ve been anywhere near the internet recently, you might have seen pictures of mid-engined Corvettes. Renders, spy shots, official (but disguised) shots – the next-generation ‘Vette is going to have to look pretty special to have any chance of actually surprising us when it arrives on July 18.

And yes, here’s another bloody picture of a disguised Corvette that – oh, my god – has its V8 behind the occupants as opposed to in front of them. But this picture has some good news attached to it, namely that a whole 400 extra jobs have been created by the addition of a second shift at the ‘Vette’s Bowling Green factory in Kentucky. Looks like big things are expected of this newly laid out sports car.

“The Corvette’s iconic status owes so much to the men and women of Bowling Green, where it has been built exclusively for almost 40 years,” General Motors boss Mary Barra says.

“This is the workforce that can deliver a next-generation Corvette worthy of both its historic past and an equally exciting future, and today’s announcement gets us one step closer to its reveal on July 18.”

Bowling Green has pumped out more than a million ‘Vettes since its 1981 opening, and it would seem a whole heap more are about to pop off its production lines in the coming years. With, if you hadn’t heard, their engines placed in the middle this time around…
