The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 has been upgraded

2019 'Stang gets upgraded suspension, tyres and aero

Published: 12 Jun 2018

Ford’s steadfast refusal to sell the Mustang GT350 in Britain makes us very sad indeed. And news of its imminent improvement – with upgrades to aero, chassis, suspension and tyres – has done precisely nothing to change that.

The 2019 GT350 looks more or less the same as last year’s car, but promises better “performance on-track and on the street”. A set of new 19in alloys, a new wing (with an optional ‘Gurney flap’) and a more aerodynamically-efficient grille are the only visible changes. We’re told the aero mods borrow from the forthcoming GT500 and Ford’s racing programme.

Get down on your hands and knees and you might catch a glimpse of the six-piston Brembos and the bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. You will not however spot the changes to the suspension – the dampers and springs have been revised – or to the electronic safety and power-steering systems.

The 526bhp flat-plane crank V8 remains, as does the six-speed manual transmission. You can buy one – but not in Britain – starting early 2019.
