The Fisker Thunderbolt is dead

Remember the Fisker Thunderbolt? You ought to, as not even a month has passed since we first clapped eyes on its dramatic body.

The Thunderbolt was unveiled at the Amelia Island concours event in the US, and was essentially - as you may be able to tell - a rebodied, reimagined Aston Martin Vanquish. The work was carried out by Henrik Fisker, he of Aston DB9-scribbling (and electric Karma-making) fame.

Well Aston Martin could tell, too. And it immediately lodged a lawsuit politely highlighting the Thunderbolt's resemblance to the Vanquish it so obviously riffs off.

Some undesirable press later, the lawsuit has now been dropped, thanks to the companies reaching amicable agreement. The agreement being, basically, that Fisker's canned the Thunderbolt.

"Aston Martin filed a lawsuit against Henrik Fisker and other parties alleging various infringements by ‘Project Thunderbolt' of Aston Martin's intellectual property rights," an Aston statement reads. "The parties are pleased to report that they have been able to swiftly and amicably resolve their differences."

"Henrik Fisker has decided that ‘Project Thunderbolt' will not be produced," it continues. "Aston Martin will withdraw the lawsuit".

We're pleased they're mates again, but equally a little sad to see the back of a rather pretty car...
