David Hasselhoff is selling KITT

Published: 01 Apr 2014

The presence of a car in eighties TV increased watchability by roughly 40 per cent. An undisputable fact proven by the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT) - David Hasselhoff's sidekick in the legendary Knight Rider series.

But for some reason, probably artistic differences, the Hoff has decided to part ways with the 1986 Pontiac Firebird, and has announced that he'll be putting it up for auction on April 11 in California.

Thing is, it's not actually his co-star. The car that'll cross the block is actually a fan-made recreation, gifted to the actor by über-fan, Jennifer Catano. She used an ‘86 Firebird, added the hero car's LEDs and digital gauges - including the all-important Turbo Boost button - a W-shaped steering wheel, and embedded over 4,000 sound clips from the show to play on command.

Obviously, David wasn't that impressed. Perhaps he's holding out for one of the original four KITTs, which are already spoken for.

The auctioneer estimates that it'll sell for between £18,000 and £30,000. Fancy it?
