Behold: the 1969 Mustang made entirely from paper

Published: 19 Sep 2011

All of these pictures show car parts made of paper. Yes, PAPER. We feel James would approve.

They've been Pritt Stik'd together by Jonathan Brand and are worryingly faithful replicas of the engine, wheels, tyres, door and door cards of a 1969 Ford Mustang coupe.

And no, Jonathan Brand does not live in his mother's basement. Nor have an impressive World of Warcraft score. He's a Brooklyn-based artist and this construction's been built for his latest exhibition, One Piece at a Time, which is showing till October 29 at the Hosfelt Gallery, New York.

So, why? The show's title is a nod to the Johnny Cash song about the Detroit assembly line worker who dreams of owning one of the Cadillacs he builds. He decides to half-inch a car one piece at a time, stashing pinched parts in his lunch box each day to bring home and reassemble.

Click on. It's rather impressive.
