Kia is working on its first ever pickup truck, and given the Korean carmaker’s recent form we’d imagine it’ll be very good indeed. Called the Tasman, it’ll make its debut in 2025 and will initially go on sale in Korea, Australia, Africa and the Middle East as a proper workhorse truck. We really hope it finds its way over to the UK at some point.
Looks like Kia is having plenty of fun with the development too. This is the first time we’ve seen an official picture of the Tasman, although the look is rather dominated by a bespoke wrap that will cloak the pickup from now until its unveiling. Kia calls it camouflage, but as cool as the design is we don’t think it would ever help the Tasman blend in with its surroundings.
Anyway, the wrap was developed in collaboration with artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop and is apparently inspired by Boyd-Dunlop’s adventures hitching rides in the back of utes across Australia. Pretty cool.
Oh, and yes, the name Tasman does pay tribute to the island of Tasmania. More as we have it.
