Toyota RAV4 news - Toyota reveals new RAV4 - 2006
If SUVs set your heart fluttering, turn up your pacemaker for the new Toyota RAV4.
Gaining a little in length and width, the new RAV is a more practical machine than its predecessor.
There's more interior and boot space, and Toyota has applied its Easy Flat seating system for the rear seats to fold flat into the floor.
Toyota reckons the sporty handling of the previous model has been preserved and has given the RAV more powerful engines to make the most of it.
A revised version of the 2.0-litre unit with 150bhp is the only petrol, while a pair of new turbodiesels joins the line-up.
The 2.0-litre D4-D turbodiesel has 136bhp, while the 2.2 has 175bhp to make it the most powerful diesel in its class.
Part-time four-wheel drive is standard on all models, and every RAV4 comes with no less than nine airbags.
Four trim levels cater for all tastes in luxury and prices start at £18,995.
