Lewis and the AMG hypercar: it's the new issue of Top Gear mag

Issue 301 of Top Gear magazine stars Hamilton, a 1,000bhp Merc and more

Published: 04 Oct 2017

In this new issue it’s all about the Frankfurt reveal of the Mercedes-AMG Project One, the phenomenal EV set to match a Formula One car. Capable of toppling the Chiron in reaching 0-124mph in under 6 seconds, it has the seal of approval of one Lewis Hamilton - three time Formula One world champion. Pick up a copy now for our exclusive interview with Lewis.

Next up it’s a V8 triple test as America’s Corvette Stingray takes on Europe’s Maserati Gran Turismo and Japan’s Lexus LC500 in a celebration of gloriously high-revving engines.

Looking for new school-run wheels? The Land Rover Discovery tackles an Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 in, um, a quarry. Which seven-seat SUV should you aspire to next?

We also head on a road trip with the Hyundai i30 N, Korea’s first proper hot hatch tackling the fearsome Grossglockner pass. We've also sampled Merc's extreme new E-Class, the Mercedes E-AT² wagon, a car you have to see to really believe. Plus there’s a look at the all-new TVR Griffith, Honda's cute Urban EV concept and a rundown of Sir Ben Ainslie’s life in cars.

And, naturally, we've driven all the cars that matter: the brand new Volkswagen Polo, the AMG-engined Aston Martin DB11 V8, Jaguar's new XF Sportbrake estate, the pumped-up Citroen C3 Aircross, the butch Mercedes-AMG GT C and the all-new, second-gen Nissan Leaf.

We also see if the Genesis G70 can really beat the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 and try the simply bonkers Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, while there's a 780bhp hot hatch twin test as the Mercedes-AMG A45 takes on the Audi RS3.
