#TopGearChallenge Two: Photography

So you’ve always wanted to be a Top Gear car photographer? Now’s your chance

Published: 17 Apr 2020

If you don’t know about #TopGearChallenge yet, click these blue words to get up to speed, then have a go at our second challenge below.

Have you’ve always wanted to be a car photographer? Dreamt of epic photoshoots in crazy locations with even crazier cars? Well, now is your chance to get your images published on TopGear.com, or even printed in Top Gear Magazine.

Your second task is simple: send us the greatest picture you’ve ever taken of a car. It doesn’t matter if it’s an iPhone shot of an old Skoda, or a professional picture of a Lamborghini – it’s good technique and a keen eye for composition that we’re looking for.

They can be static or moving BUT all images have to already exist. DO NOT GO OUTSIDE TO CREATE NEW ONES. Anything taken after lockdown will be disqualified. And don’t you dare cheat! Stealing images isn’t cool. Plus, we have technology that can sniff out the thieves.

Unlike last week’s challenge, #TopGearChallenge Two has no restrictions when it comes to age, skill or ability – think of it as the Group B rallying of photography competitions. Once you’re done, send us your masterpiece before midnight on Friday 24 April and we’ll put it in front of our panel of experts for evaluation: Top Gear’s staff photographers and Art Department.

They’re a tough crowd to please, so now’s a perfect time to scroll through your camera roll, clear your desktop and showcase your best car photograph ever. Good luck!

How to send us your stuff. Read this bit, it’s really important…

Via Instagram: Post your creation on Instagram and make sure you include the hashtag #TopGearChallengeThree - that’s how we can see it. Note we can only see submissions from ‘public’ profiles, so if you’d rather remain a private Instagram user you’ll need to email us your submission instead. And make sure you follow @topgear on Instagram, otherwise we can’t get back to you!

Via email: If you don’t have Instagram or want to keep your submission out of the public eye until you inevitably win because it’s just so good, then send your picture to: editor@bbctopgearmagazine.com and make sure you title it #TopGearChallengeThree. Please note all entries must be under 15mb file size. Anything over this makes our inbox explode. No, really. And don’t forget to sign up to Top Gear’s regular newsletter, too.

If you’re under 16 then your parent or guardian must submit your content for you.
