#TopGearChallenge Six: Magazine Design

Always wanted to make your own Top Gear Magazine cover? Now's your chance

Published: 19 Jun 2020

If you don’t know about #TopGearChallenge yet, click these blue words to get up to speed, then have a go at our latest challenge below.

Taking pictures of cars is easy right? Plonk them somewhere with a scenic background, wait for the sun to set, snap away to your heart's content and bingo, magazine cover stardom is yours. Write a couple of headlines that grab attention, slap them on using “art” and you have yourself a cover good enough to grace the world’s largest and most creative car magazine... simples.

Top Gear Magazine is currently in the process of creating its 337th cover, and to be honest, given the boss has been here for over 200 of them, we could do with a few new ideas... so now is your time to shine.

Welcome to #TopGearChallengeSix. We want you to create your very own Top Gear Magazine cover. You can create it using model cars, papier-mâché and impressive deployment of glue, or head to your favourite computer game and create it in pixels. If you’re really keen, you can head out to your favourite local quarry and spend hours waiting for the golden hour surviving on nothing more than tepid tea and curly sandwiches all in the hope of creating something truly artistic. But if you do decide to do that you probably won’t win. Sorry. We’re looking for originality.

All covers must be created using social distancing and the correct deployment of hand sanitiser, and all the details you need to know about how to enter are listed below. The best of the best will be selected by Top Gear Creative Director, Andy Franklin and Top Gear Art Director Elliott Webb. Deadline for entries is Monday 6 July, so get cracking. And good luck!

How to send us your stuff. Read this bit, it’s really important…

Via Instagram: Post your creation on Instagram and make sure you include the hashtag #TopGearChallengeSix - that’s how we can see it. Note we can only see submissions from ‘public’ profiles, so if you’d rather remain a private Instagram user you’ll need to email us your submission instead. And make sure you follow @topgear on Instagram, otherwise we can’t get back to you!

Via email: If you don’t have Instagram or want to keep your submission out of the public eye until you inevitably win because it’s just so good, then send your picture to: editor@bbctopgearmagazine.com and make sure you title it #TopGearChallengeSix. Please note all entries must be under 15mb file size. Anything over this makes our inbox explode. No, really. And don’t forget to sign up to Top Gear’s regular newsletter, too.

If you’re under 16 then your parent or guardian must submit your content for you.

Terms and Conditions: read these too, they’re also important…
