Top Gear's Department of Education is open

Welcome, students, to a series of car-based challenges

Published: 31 Mar 2020

School’s out, you can’t play Call of Duty forever and you’re sore from press up challenges/Tik Tok dances. Don’t panic - Top Gear is here to help! Because exams won’t be taking place this year, we'd like to provide you with the opportunity to showcase your skills and celebrate the next generation of automotive talent.

Welcome to the #TopGearChallenge!

Over the next few months we will be setting a different #TopGearChallenge every week to allow the future engineers, designers, writers, photographers and filmmakers from around the world to showcase their abilities.

Don’t worry, it won’t be like double algebra - each brief is designed to inspire your creativity and give you the chance to show why you’re The Next Big Thing, but mostly to have some fun. Entries will be divided into four categories depending on what stage of education you’re in: Primary (0-11), Secondary (12-15), Sixth Form (16-19), University and beyond (20-120). The #TopGearChallenge is also open to our global audience, but we don’t understand the international Baccalaureate system, so please tell us which category you’re entering when you submit or post your entries.

Each brief will be reviewed by leading figures in the car industry and the Top Gear editorial team, and we’ll publish the best submissions.

So, if you’re a budding engineer, car designer, journalist or filmmaker, what are you waiting for? Time to get involved.

We’ll be posting the first challenge this Friday so keep across TopGear.com and our social media channels or sign up to our newsletter here to make sure you don’t miss the briefing.

Good luck!

Important note: all Top Gear Challenges are designed to be completed from inside the safety of your own home so please stay indoors, have some fun and showcase your creativity.
