Tom Ford
Tom ‘Wookie’ Ford is the Associate Editor of TopGear Magazine and has been testing, breaking, adventuring in and writing about cars for more than two decades. After gaining a degree in Philosophy which he promptly forgot, he attempted a post-graduate qualification in journalism, getting sidetracked by a part-time gig at… TopGear Magazine. At the time, TG wasn’t prepared for full-time Ford, so he defected to CAR Magazine, ending up as Road Test Editor, presenting Channel 5’s Fifth Gear at the same time. Busy.
He’s been roadtesting, presenting - and winning awards along the way - consistently for the entire 20 years, everything from supercars to superminis, on and off-road, and has had more adventures, driven in more places, and been accidentally dangerous on a global scale. Eventually, Ford returned to the TG fold as Deputy Editor for a few years, before abdicating any real responsibility for the title of Associate Editor, which gives him more time to plan ridiculous adventures and car builds.
He’s also presented TopGear America and several other shows including Mud, Sweat & Gears in the US, Lazy Boy Garage and Motorheads in the UK, and the extreme electric car show Hard Cell on Motortrend/Discovery. He embraces any kind of car, adores new tech and has an endless supply of faintly unbelievable stories, every single one of which is true. Allegedly.
