Is there a way to make the new BMW M3 less, um... divisive?

The M3 configurator is live, so let’s see what we can do with that nose

Published: 22 Oct 2020

The new BMW M3’s face is a little… polarising, isn’t it? Still, the basics sound fantastic. The Competition versions that we’ll get in the UK use a 503bhp version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six, with power being sent to either the rear wheels or (for the first time) all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Plus, there’ll be a Touring version this time too. Result.

So, now that the new M3/M4 configurator is live on BMW’s UK site, we decided to have a play to see if we could make it look a little more palatable. What do you reckon to our creations above?

We’re thinking the £1,100 Tanzanite Blue II metallic paint with silver wheels is probably your best bet. Avoid the M Carbon exterior pack too. Although in answer to our own question – is there a way to make it less divisive? Well, yes – you’d just have to only ever look at it from the rear.

Oh, and before you click this link to have a go yourself, it’s also worth noting that you can spec an M3 Comp to just over £100,000 if you really try. Ouch.
