There are more new Alpine A110s than old ones
A110 mk2 has surpassed A110 mk1's 15-year production run. In just two years
“Alpine has produced the 7,176th new A110 in less than two years,” reads the official tweet. “It is the same number as the A110 Berlinette produced between 1962 and 1977.”
Short but sweet, but accompanied by the picture above, it tells a big story: there are already more examples of the new Alpine A110 on the roads than its inspiration. That’s before the more powerful A110 S has launched. As well as presumably other, perhaps even harder cored versions.
The new A110 uses a hot hatch-sourced 1.8-litre turbo engine, producing 248bhp and good for 0-62mph in 4.5secs. Its ancestor? There were myriad A110 specs but the most powerful produced around 130bhp, while the very first pumped out an exceedingly modest 48bhp. At least it’s always been small and light…
