This is the new Jeep Gladiator Willys edition
Because if you own the name, why wouldn’t you make use of it?
The Willys Jeep was just a wee bit famous, wasn’t it? Apparently it was something to do with World War II. Anyway, if you had access to a name like that, surely it’d make perfect business sense to use it for some sort of special edition…
Step forward then, the Jeep Gladiator Willys edition. Yep – you can’t blame Jeep for going down this route with the Gladiato,r having already applied the same name to the smaller Wrangler.
The Willys edition can be applied to the Gladiator’s Sport or Sport S trim levels and is designed to make it even more capable off-road than the standard car. To that end, there’s a rear limited-slip differential, rock rails and shocks from the Gladiator Rubicon and 32-inch BF Goodrich KM2 mud terrain tyres. Pretty serious stuff.
They’re combined with Jeep’s Command-Trac 4x4 system and a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, as well as some Willys and 4WD decals – because we all know that stickers are the real key to conquering the rough stuff.
There’s black 17-inch wheels and a gloss black grille for the Willys edition too, and US-based buyers will be able to pick between the following colours: Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Grey, Billet, Firecracker Red, White, Hydro Blue and Snazzberry. Yep, you did read that last one correctly.
What do we think Internet? Is the Willys edition worth its $35,000 asking price?
