It’s nearly time: new Ford Bronco revealed next week

Ford will reveal two- and four-door Broncos, plus smaller Bronco Sport, in mere DAYS

Published: 07 Jul 2020

Good news Americans – Ford is revealing the new Bronco in two- and four-door form, plus the smaller Bronco Sport, in just a few days’ time on July 13th. And while the entire Internet has already seen what they look like thanks to many, MANY juicy leaks, we’re still pretty excited to see and hear about the finished article(s). Yes, even though it’s massively unlikely we’ll get them in the UK.

As well as hyping next week’s launch, Ford has revealed it’ll build Bronco into a “distinct outdoor brand” – in the words of consumer marketing manager Mark Grueber – that “includes a unique network of experiences, community and engagement that extends far beyond ownership of Bronco and Bronco Sport models”.

It’s planning to build four “off-roading and outdoor adventure playgrounds”, the first of which will open next year, where owners can drive their cars the way the engineers intended. Then there’s the ‘Bronco Nation’ forum and a generous helping of branded merch. Bronco iPhone case? You bet. Cufflinks? Of course. A flag for your garden? Erm, ok then…

What do we know about the cars themselves? Well – the big two- and four-door Broncos are aimed squarely at the Jeep Wranger. They’ll have removable doors and possibly a removable roof. Engines? Most likely, four- and six-cylinder EcoBoost petrols. There will also be the option of a manual transmission, and a load of clever tech (including an “exclusive terrain management system”) to appeal to the off-roading enthusiasts among you.

Meanwhile the Bronco Sport (if we ever get a Bronco in Europe, odds are it’ll be this one) will be smaller, and is based on the same platform as the new Ford Kuga (or Escape, in the States).

Tune in next week for the full story.
