The DS 7 Crossback Louvre contains its own Mona Lisa
Sound the French cliché klaxon, this DS special edition is full of artwork
Hopping on the Eurostar for a weekend getaway in Paris and a selfie in front of the Mona Lisa. Until recently it was a few clicks online from idea to reality, but who knows when such wantonly casual European breaks will be possible once again?
Luckily, DS has the answer. This is the DS 7 Crossback Louvre edition, and it could barely be more French if the seats were trimmed in black and white stripes and the cupholders brimming with escargot.
Pay DS the handsome sum of £46,530 and not only will you get a 225bhp, 40mpg crossover, but a year’s access to the Louvre art gallery right in the heart of Paris. Which is pretty useless at this moment in time, of course, but worry not: DS has had the good heart to stick 182 of the Louvre’s most-loved works inside the Crossback’s 12in touchscreen.
In fact, it might even make that pass redundant. The real-life Louvre has 35,000 paintings, portraits and sculptures to navigate. Trust us, it’s a tiring exercise taking it all in. So a tour of its greatest hits - including, yes, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa - from the comfort of your chintzy Audi Q5 alternative and without any of the baying crowds... well that could hold quite a lot of appeal. Get your camera angle right and that selfie might even look authentic.
Next week: the Alfa Stelvio Sistine edition, with a very special headlining. Perhaps.
