Superior Sport Wagon news - Fin for the win - 2009
Let’s roll like it’s 1954. This is the Superior Sport Wagon, a retro American estate with Harley Earl tailfins… and it’s making us wanna cruise to the drive-in with a comely girl on our arm called Betty. Or Lois. The girl, that is, not the arm.
The Sport Wagon might look old-school – in fact, it was inspired by GM’s 1954 Motorama Corvette prototype – but it’s as new as, er, something very new indeed, built by Oregon’s Super Glass Works out of lots of lovely new shiny stuff.
Lovely new shiny stuff from the Chevrolet Corvette, for the most part. Which means there’s a big V8 under the bonnet, putting out… well, as much power as you think you can handle.
That’s the thing about the Sport Wagon. It’s more or less infinitely customisable: you can add more chrome, more mods or more power to create your perfect retro station wagon.
We’ll take ours with a 550bhp 6.2-litre LSA, Wurlitzer juke box and a big ‘If this wagon’s rockin’, don’t come knockin’’ sticker on the tailgate. Oh, and double-length tail fins. The world needs more tail fins.
Then, we reckon, you’ve got the perfect wagon to rock up at a late-night showing of ‘Night Of The Living Pianos’. Or ‘The Day The Killer Fruit Bat Zombies Attacked’. Anyone with us?
