You should buy this mint Ferrari FXX at auction

'Ming Collection' of seven Ferraris, including the FXX, will be auctioned in August

Published: 20 Jun 2019

James Bond’s old Aston Martin DB5 isn’t the only interesting thing on offer at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale. Just take a look at these – seven immaculate Ferraris from the ‘Ming Collection’. The star of the show? Undoubtedly this barely-used, one-of-30 FXX.

The FXX was, of course, the track-only, hardcore Enzo – with a 789bhp, 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12, much aero and slick tyres. RM says this one is the first to be offered for public sale (by its first and only owner, no less) in “several” years, and that’s it’s only ever been driven on track once – at a special event at Fiorano, when it was brand new.

Finished in the classic combo of Rosso Scuderia with white stripes, it comes with three travel cases full of gear, as well as an unused Ferrari race suit and helmet.

The collection also features a Ferrari Classiche-certified F40 that’s covered under 2,000 miles since it was new in 1991, a 512 BBI that’s so mint it still has protective plastic on the door sills, and 355 that has a grand total of 704 miles on the clock. Prices range from around $100,000-$150,000 for a 308 GTSi, to a predicted $2.85million-$3.25million for the FXX.

All lovely things, we’re surely you’ll agree. But if you had the means to bid (and buy), would you keep them tucked away for future generations, or use them as intended?
