Video: Rohrl nails the GT2 RS

Published: 25 Aug 2010

The existence of alien life forms has perplexed humankind's greatest minds, from the ancient Greeks right up to Paul Daniels.

Here at TopGear however, we like to think we've found something unearthly - rally legend Walter Rohrl.

This man - one of the world's greatest rally drivers - scared us senseless with his inhuman driving prowess and alien grace behind the wheel of an Audi Quattro, and now he's back behind the wheel.

This little video nugget showcases Rohrl behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, piloting the 611bhp death-machine around the Luk driving centre.

The GT2 RS is a Big Numbers car. It'll hit 62mph from rest in 3.4 seconds, hit a top speed of 205mph and lap the Nurburgring in 7m 18s - 19 seconds faster than the 911 Turbo S. The TopGear.com editor was shown a few hot laps in the GT2 RS last week at Porsche's driving centre at Silverstone. Afterwards all he could say was "that car is just amazing". And "I feel a bit sick".

Rohrl is similarly a Big Numbers man. He's taken part in 75 rallies, had 14 rally wins, won two world championships and been named ‘Rally driver of the millennium' and, in Italy, ‘Best rally driver ever'.

Check out the vid below for a little bit of alien awesomeness.
