Video: Ragnotti and the Renault R.S. 01 play cops

We know the Renault R.S. 01 is a fantastic race car. It’s also pretty exciting as a track toy. But today we’ve learned it’s also a quite adept police car.

Oh yes. Residents of France had better watch their speed, for a new police interceptor will catch them if they stray too many kphs north of the limit.

It will catch them not only because of its decidedly angry combination of 542bhp GT-R-sourced V6 and Clio-like 1,120kg weight, but because the man behind its wheel is Jean Ragnotti.

Ragnotti has one of the strongest CVs in rallying, and he's also infamous for performing donuts on Lord March’s drive in a Renault 5 Turbo.

Nowadays, he appears to be making a bit of extra coin moonlighting for les plod. A job he can't complete without a slickly filmed overtake of each model in Renault’s current range first, naturally…
