The sold-out Donkervoort F22 is now un-sold-out
Turns out 75 cars wasn’t enough, so Donkervoort is building another 25 for good measure
It wasn’t all that long ago that the Donkervoort F22 supercar - you know, the 750kg one with almost 500bhp - was having its production run upped from 50 cars to 75. Well, demand has been so strong that the firm has added another 25 units to its plan.
Yep, production has officially doubled from the initial target to 100 examples, with production extended from the end of 2024 to mid-way through the following year.
The first F22s have already been delivered, and some of this latest 25 have already been allocated… before they were public knowledge.
“We are in an unprecedented situation at Donkervoort,” said MD Denis Donkervoort, “and it’s a testament to the design and engineering teams behind the F22 that demand is so strong. We had hoped people would appreciate the F22, and they did.
“They appreciated it so much we had to turn back to our logistics chain to source enough high-quality pieces to create another 25 cars after all the regular production slots had been filled. This is where it ends, though."
Yep, after this there’ll be no more extensions: only so many times you can make a circa £217k-plus-taxes car less rare before existing owners start to feel less cool and edgy.
Donkervoort added: “It has been a unique time at Donkervoort, and the buzz behind the F22 has introduced a new buyer group to our brand to broaden our extended customer family.”
And no wonder. As well as chucking out a crazy amount of power for the weight (666hp/tonne, says the Dutch firm), the Audi-sourced, 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine will tackle 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and 0-124mph in under eight seconds on its way to 180mph.
Donkervoort says it traditionally attracts most of its buyers from western Europe, but the F22 has seen orders and enquiries from North America, the UAE, southern Europe, Scandinavia, Israel and, of course, the UK. Five cars have already found homes in the USA, too.
