The Polizia Huracan has proved supercars can save humanity
Ready for a weep? Then watch as a Lambo delivers a donated organ at 150mph
Supercars are so often the bad guy. Loud, polluting, gauche… they’re not always a neat fit with modern life.
Well, meet a Lamborghini that’s not the devil. This is one of the Italian police force’s Huracan LP-610s, and it’s recently transported a kidney from its donor to recipient in two hours. Remarkable, given they were separated by over 300 miles (and both living - it was part of a 'crossover transplant').
Yep, blues ’n’ twos firmly on, a man in uniform averaged around 150mph in what the Polizia calls its “jewel of technology and efficiency”. Watch the video above and try telling us your eyes are completely dry. Testimonials to the good that ferociously fast sports cars can bring get little more emotional.
The Lamborghini’s front boot – it’s frunk, if you speak Internet – has been refrigerated and snugly holds organs as they travel, ensuring such sustained speed doesn’t have any impact on their usefulness at the end of the journey.
There’s even a celebratory crackle from the exhaust as the Huracan slows into the hospital grounds at the end of its journey. A sound which hopefully warms your cockles as much as it warmed ours…
