This Pagani Zonda art car is made from 100,000 coins… and features Messi’s face
Well, at least they’ll have money for the parking meter
A Uruguayan artist by the name of Joaquin Arbiza has created a one-off, definitely-not-V12-powered Pagani Zonda art car for a collector that a) showcases said collector’s admiration for mildly famous footballist Lionel Messi, and presumably b) his love of small, pocket-sized currency.
So welcome to a Zonda that’ll never run out of parking meter money, or indeed a Zonda that'll never... run. Because it's a full, life-sized model car; one we can confidently say is definitely worth more than… 200,000 Uruguayan pesos. Unveiled at Miami’s Art Week (where that other thing was revealed), it’s called the Pagani Zonda Carpincho.
Carpincho is of course, Spanish for capybara, and this Zonda capybara was commissioned by “renowned car collector and enthusiast” Jorge Gomez. He worked with Arbiza for three years creating this homage to both the wonderful V12 Zonda, Lionel Messi and small, pocket-sized circular currency.
It features over 100,000 Uruguayan coins, half a million soldering points and a portrait of the Argentinian footballist on the bonnet, the latter “reflecting Gomez’s deep connection to soccer and his Argentine heritage”. We're also told it weighs the same as the regular, really-very-V12-powered Pagani Zonda. That means it clocks in at around 1,250kg.
Quite something, no?
