Maserati wants to build one-off, bespoke cars in the near future

Plus there’ll be loads more limited-run special editions based on the current range

Published: 13 Feb 2023

Maserati is keen to start accepting commissions for bespoke one-off builds based on cars like the MC20 supercar or the new GranTurismo in its petrol or electric form.

Chief engineer Davide Danesin recently confirmed to TopGear.com that customer-led bespoke builds would be a part of Maserati’s future as it looks to go even further beyond its Fuoriserie customisation programme.

So, got an idea for your ideal Maserati and spare change burning a hole in your pocket? Get on the phone to Modena now, we reckon. Oh, and if anyone commissions a proper road-going version of the Alfieri concept (pictured above) from back in 2014 then they’ll get a massive pat on the back from TG.

But what if you haven’t got the vision to pen your own design and yet still want something with a trident badge that costs a whole heap more than a Quattroporte? Well, Danesin also hinted at future low volume specials also based on its current range. He namechecked cars like the Ferrari Daytona SP3 and the new Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 as models to follow too, so expect plenty of historical influence in said special editions.

The upcoming MC20-based Project24 will be the first of these limited-run supercars, with 62 examples of the 730bhp track toy set to be built and no pricing announced. If you have to ask, etc.

Excited for these particular branches of Maserati’s future?
