LaFerrari? P1? 918? We outpace them all, says Koenigsegg
Swedish hypercar maker isn’t fussed by the so-called ‘Holy Trinity’
As a furious hypercar battle is waged between the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918, Koenigsegg has quietly weighed in to remind the world it can outpace the whole lot.
In a post published on its website, Koenigsegg confirmed that, as the world rushes to triple-test the so-called ‘Holy Trinity’ – something Top Gear did, um, last year – its cars can more than hold their own against the illustrious trio.
“Does it trouble Koenigsegg that we’re not included in tests like these?” the company asks. “That we’re not included in the #HolyTrinity that publications are writing about so much?
“Not really. Well, not until such a time as it troubles any of our customers.”
Not surprising when you take a quick glance over one of the benchmark stats. In 2011, an Agera R set a 0-186mph time of 14.53 seconds, comfortably outpointing the official times of the LaFerrari (15 secs), P1 (16.5 secs) and 918 (19.9 secs).
In fact, earlier this year, the bonkers One:1 ‘megacar’ set a 0-186mph time of 11.922 seconds. Koenigsegg also states the One:1’s lateral grip – as evidenced by monster laps around Suzuka and Spa – means it wouldn’t be at a loss through the twisty stuff either.
Koenigsegg was quick to acknowledge that “all three are beautifully executed cars that carry a lot of technology in them,” and that “the #HolyTrinity is made up of exceptionally good performance cars that any fair minded person would be happy to own.
“Acceleration is only one aspect of performance car ownership. We just wanted to demonstrate to our customers and fans that our vehicles lose no ground when compared against this lofty competition.”
So what about the real test everyone wants to see? “We know that everyone is waiting for us to tackle the Nürburgring,” Koenigsegg said, “which we definitely want to do when restrictions are finally lifted in 2016.”
