Hennessey might do a Venom F5 Roadster

Time to superglue your toupee - John Hennessey says a F5 Roadster could follow the coupe in 2021

Published: 16 May 2019

As production of the F5 Coupe begins, John Hennessey has confirmed a roadster version of his 1,600bhp-plus, allegedly-300mph hypercar could follow in 2021.

The F5’s carbon tub, which is engineered in the UK by a company called Delta Motorsport, was designed for both coupe and roadster body styles. So if/when the time comes, it shouldn’t need much messing about with. Said time will be 2021 or thereabouts, as Hennessey is committed to building coupes through 2020.

The first coupe - a development prototype - will begin testing later this year, and customers aren’t scheduled to get their cars until 2020 at the earliest. Just 24 coupes will be built at a cost of $1.6million each. Each will use a 7.6-litre V8 (of Hennessey’s own design) with a machined block, steel cylinder sleeves, a pair of ball-bearing turbos with billet compressor wheels and a dry sump set-up.

John tells us said engine has been tested to over 2000bhp (yikes), and even though its actual output hasn’t been confirmed, it will simply “deliver as much power as [it] needs to break 300mph”.
