A guide to the Goodwood Hill Climb

Ahead of this weekend's Festival of Speed, David Coulthard tells you how to master Lord March's front garden

It's almost that time, when the ever-generous Lord March throws open the gates to his adequate pile and lets hundreds of thousands of people drive cars all over it.  

Yes, the Goodwood Festival of Speed starts this Thursday with the Moving Motor Show, and then moves into three days of burnt Castrol, burnt punters, and utterly priceless machinery being ragged up and down the Goodwood hill like THIS (seriously, click the link)

TopGear.com will be there as usual covering all the metal, old and new, which this year will include Sebastien Loeb attempting to break the venerable hill climb record held by Nick Heidfeld since 1999, set at 41.9 seconds. Given Loeb is turning up in his mighty Peugeot T16 Pikes Peak racer, we reckon he's in with a shout… 

To get you in the mood, here's David Coulthard in an SLS Black with a guide to the Goodwood course. TG.com will be piloting a few things up there ourselves in the coming days, so we've watched this with interest.
