The Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato will look a bit like this

Last September Aston Martin announced it would release something called the ‘DBZ Centenary Collection’ - two cars you can only buy as a pair, a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation, and a rebodied DBS Superleggera called the DBS GT Zagato. The cost? £6million, plus tax.

The DB4 is something of a known quantity - it’ll be a faithful recreation of perhaps Aston’s prettiest and most sought-after model, with thin-gauge aluminium panels and a straight-six engine sending 380bhp to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. Set to be built at the same Newport Pagnell plant that produced the originals, it will not be road legal. Presumably because of new-fangled safety regulations. Boo.

The DBS will be, though. Aston has just released some new sketches of what it’s gonna look like, and we very much approve. The double-bubble roof is a big part of the design - it stretches all the way to the back of the car for a nice, clean line that also sacrifices the entire rear window. The bonnet has a double-bubble theme too, and the windscreen is a wraparound item that “removes any hard lines above the car’s shoulder line”. The wheels, headlamps and grille will all be unique designs.

19 sets will be available, with deliveries of the DB4 starting at the end of 2019, and the DBS a year later. Has Aston earned your £6million?
