The Apollo Arrow is actually happening

Many of you will remember the Gumpert Apollo – the massively rapid German hypercar that was much better to drive than it was to look at. Gumpert applied for insolvency in 2012, and was bought out and subsequently restructured by a company called Ideal Team Ventures Ltd, whoever they are. Now the brand is called ‘Apollo’, and it’s partnered up with the guys behind the SCG003 to build the Arrow Concept, first shown at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. 

SCG, or ‘Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’, has form. The SCG003 has taken class honours at the Nurburgring 24hrs, and it’s being developed into a road car called the SCG003S. The first version of the Arrow to be revealed will be a naturally-aspirated V12, track-only version codenamed ‘Titan’. We’ll see it in the Spring and it’ll take part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed next year. The road-going version, called the Apollo S, will use a twin-turbo V8 in lieu of the V12, but both road and track versions will “utilise the chassis technology developed for the SCG003C”.

The SCG003 was engineered and built by Italian company MAT, and it’s them who’ll be developing the Apollo, too. Sounds exciting, looks exciting, probably is quite exciting. We can’t wait to drive it.
