The 300mph+ Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster will be revealed next week
California’s ‘Car Week’ will host one of the world’s fastest open-topped motor cars
Hennessey has confirmed that its Venom F5 Roadster will be revealed next week, which gives you a little bit of time to prepare thine febrile minds to what a 1,817bhp open-topped motor car is capable of.
At least 300mph, according to Hennessey. “The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is a bespoke mid-engine hypercar engineered to exceed 300mph while delivering unparalleled performance and the world’s most exhilarating open-air driving experience.”
It’ll share the same 6.6-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that powers the Venom F5 coupe, nicknamed ‘Fury’. Because of course it is. It’s a big puncher spun off GM’s LS pushrod V8, but basically completely rebuilt to move mountains. In the coupe, that thunderous power means 0-62mph in 2.6secs, 0-124mph in 4.7secs and 0-250mph in 15.5secs.
Hennessey is planning 30 of these targa-topped Roadsters, which is one of two chances you’ll have left to snap a Venom up: all 24 coupes have sold out, and after the Roadster, there’ll be just a handful of high-downforce track warriors up for grabs.
