Yellow Veyron hits Qatar motor show

Published: 25 Jan 2012

Unless you have some form of refractive error that has significantly reduced your visual acuity, you can clearly see this is a rather yellow Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. And now, having seen it, you may well develop said refractive error.

It was first unveiled last year at the Dubai motor show, where Bugatti proudly trumpeted its wares alongside two other ‘new' special edition Veyron convertibles. Naturally, ‘new' here is a liberal interpretation; they are of course, ‘standard' (can any Veyron be ‘standard'?) Grand Sports liveried in new colours. This yellow one has just gone on display at the Qatar motor show, and we've got some real-life pics.

Why Qatar? At Dubai, a Bugatti spokesperson said: "It is Bugatti's intention to honour the very important Middle East market and to provide its highly exclusive clientele in the Middle East an insight into how creativity and inspiration can be successfully driven to individualised luxury."

So what you get is a "striking" contrast of yellow and black (reportedly Ettore Bugatti's favourite colours), black-tinted wheels, a canary interior with a black carbon centre console and a price tag of £1.3 million. No change to the 1001hp W16 engine though, capable of 0-62mph in less than 2.7 seconds.

As of November last year, Bugatti had sold 45 Grand Sports from a production run of 150. And the company is proud of its individualisation programme, allowing customers to choose from a "broad array of exquisite materials and colours".
