Veritas RS3 news - Veritas exposed - 2008
More news has surfaced on the mysterious Veritas RS3 spotted at the Nurburgring a couple of weeks back.
When the single-seater, bullet-styled car turned up at Nordschliefe, we wondered what the hell a seven-year-old concept car was doing there, but it seems that Veritas - a tiny German company with only seven employees - actually plans to put the RS3 into production.
Based on a monocoque frame wrapped in carbon kevlar, the RS3 has swapped the concept-s six-litre V12 for another big BMW engine: a five-litre V10 tuned up to some 600bhp.
Veritas says that's good for a 0-62mph time of around 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 216mph - a believable claim with the RS3's quoted kerbweight of just over a ton.
Veritas is aiming to produce 50 RS3s each year, with production starting at the end of 2008. With a hard-top two-seater version, a GT edition and a Le Mans racer planned over the next few years, you can't argue with the ambition.
The Family Guy styling, however, might take a bit more getting used to.
