Pagani Zonda news - King of the 'Ring - 2007
The Pagani Zonda F Clubsport has set a new production car record for a lap of the Nurburgring's Nordschliefe.
The carbon-fibre-clad supercar lapped the 'Ring in 7:27.82, shaving two-tenths of a second off the previous record, held by the Porsche Carrera GT.
That's an average speed just shy of 99mph around the 12.3-mile course - an astonishing achievement even for a car as focused as the Zonda.
Powered by a 7.3-litre V12 putting out 641bhp, the Clubsport weighs 1,224kg. That means a power-to-weight ratio of 541bhp per tonne and a 0-62mph time of around 3.5 seconds.
Pagani quotes a top speed of 214mph, and while we can't imagine the Clubsport topped that around the Green Hell, it's a record that'll take a superhuman effort to beat.
Rumour has it that the Stig is eyeing up a Caparo T1 and a German phrasebook.
