Not real, should be: it's LaMaserati!

Published: 03 Mar 2014

This is the LaMaserati concept, and it doesn't exist. It also won't be built, and it's not official in any way whatsoever. But it is utterly extraordinary and we want to drive it very, very much.

Penned by Staffordshire University transport design graduate Mark Hostler, it's designed around the LaFerrari platform, in much the same way the Maserati MC12 was built around the Enzo. Only the Ferrari's trick KERS system's been removed to save weight, and the 6.3-litre V12's been tuned for extra power and the gearing's been adjusted accordingly.

At least, it would be if the LaMaserati existed. Which it doesn't. And never will.

There's more Maserati design-stuff in the rendering too, like the classic blue and white colour scheme. We have no idea if those antenna-style 'wing' mirrors would serve any practical function whatsoever. Or if we like them or not. But, like the rest of it, they're utterly insane. What do you reckon?
