Maserati Grancabrio MC revealed

"There's a majesty to the way this car drives. And it feels like it's got a soul, too." That's how Jeremy Clarkson described the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale - the coupe version of this, the new hard-core soft-top Masser. 

Only the Grancabrio's not actually that hard core. It does use the same 4.7-litre 454bhp and 384lb ft V8, only it's got a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox, not the Stradale's really very good robotized manual (well, good in Race mode), making it a bit... pillowy. If that wasn't bad enough, there are four seats - the tin-top's only got two for extra RACE. 

In fairness, it does look the part. The main change from the cooking Grancabrio is a big boot spoiler, which you can get painted body colour or left in naked carbonfibre. But thanks to the aero package, it's now 48mm longer than the Grancab', making it an absolutely huge 4929mm long - that's only 4.3cm shorter than a Range Rover.

Alas, there's not much we know about it until its official debut at the 2012 Paris motorshow, but we'll keep you updated as and when we are.
