Listen to the new Ford GT!

Last week at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, Ford pulled a bit of a blinder. No, it wasn't the new Raptor or the Mustang 350R, but the last item on the agenda: the surprise unveiling of a 600bhp GT.

Jaws suitably slackened, the world and its neighbour got stuck into the details: gone was the old V8, and in comes a new 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, placed carefully in the middle to power the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox.

It looks stunning, and yet admit it, at this point you're still digesting that ‘out goes the V8, in comes a V6' part, aren't you? Here's a little video of that twin-turbo powerplant starting up and giving us a tantalising glimpse of its noise.

It's certainly different. Have a listen as the GT moves a bit back and forth at the Detroit show. Obviously, the big fat caveat is that we're still waiting on a proper video of this engine's noise, but your first impressions?
