HTT Plethore news - Canada's ultimate supercar - 2009
Canada: a great nation famed for producing fine timber, bears and check shirts. But not supercars.
Not yet, anyhow. This is the Plethore LC-750, set to debut in Frankfurt next week with the aim, hope its creators at HTT Technologies, of putting Canada firmly on the supercar map.
The Plethore is underpinned – as are so many upstart supercars – by the supercharged V8 from the Corvette ZR1. HTT has extracted even more power from the 6.2-litre lump, which is putting out 750bhp and 655lb ft of torque.
HTT says the carbon-fibre Plethore will weigh in at just 1150kg – about the same as an MX-5 – so expect performance to be towards the ‘terrifying’ end of the scale.
If you’re noticing a bit of similarity to McLaren's supercars, it runs deeper than that orange paintjob. The Plethore features the same three-seat set-up as the old F1, with the driver sitting front and centre, and the passengers set back to either side.
The car is currently in prototype stage, but HTT is confidently predicting the Plethore will go on sale in production form in Europe some time next year.
The chances of it proving a credible rival to the new McLaren and the Ferrari 458 Italia?
Infinitesimally low, we fear. But hey, that’s what we said about that Weber supercar, and look how that turned out. Ah…
