Hear Merc's AMG GT3 racer in action

Fine as AMG's brand new 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 is, it isn't quite so... hairy as the big ol' 6.2 V8 from the SLS. Which is why it is most definitely a Very Good Thing that Merc has fitted that gargling, brawling, naturally aspirated leviathan of a motor to its wonderfully scary AMG GT3.

A quick refresher. The AMG GT3 is the meaner, track-only version of the road-going AMG GT. It has a massive wing, bigger air intakes, a wider track and a six-speed sequential gearbox feeding the rear wheels. It's the follow up to the hugely successful SLS GT3, which has scored over 180 wins since AMG started its customer sports programme in 2010.

And do we have an aural treat for you. Do whatever it is you have to do to increase the volume on your internet-enabled thingy, and indulge your ears for three minutes as a very lucky man hammers this thundery GT around the Nurburgring. Is there any sound better than the bellow of a large-displacement, naturally aspirated V8? Apart from, y'know, a dozen large-displacement, naturally aspirated V8s...
